Roots

Robert Tijerina’s family is of Spanish ancestry and has lived in Texas for seven generations. He grew up in south Texas but his mother moved the family to Hobbs, New Mexico following the death of his father. Robert graduated high school there and received an athletic scholarship. He attended Blinn Junior College in Texas and later moved back to New Mexico where he attended New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs.

Robert and his wife have been married for 29 years and have one daughter. He moved to Cedar Park approximately 16 years ago because of the proximity to Austin and the small-town feel. Cedar Park is his home and as it grows, he wants to continue serving the people that also call this area home. His dedication draws from the law enforcement officers who made positive impressions in his past for the services they provided.

One of these situation he can remember involved his family traveling to Colorado for a job his father had taken on a farm. It was very cold, and they were stranded in a snowstorm because roads had been closed. A Colorado Highway Patrol officer found and helped his family to find a motel room for the night so they would not have to ride out the storm in their car. Never forgotten was how that one individual helped his family and made a positive, lasting impression.

Service

Robert began his career in law enforcement in 1997 with the Travis County Sheriffs’ Office. He worked in the jail as a corrections officer and was later promoted to patrol deputy in the patrol division. In 2009 he began working for Travis County Constable Pct. 3. Robert was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he supervised numerous employees and programs within the office. He is currently employed by Williamson County Constable Pct. 2 and has been serving the citizens of this area since 2015.

Robert is a Master Peace Officer and has obtained certifications through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to train new police officers, create training programs to help other police officers and civilian personnel working in law enforcement. He is trained to administer civil process but also respond to emergency calls for service as needed for Williamson County along with any of the other local law enforcement agencies.

During his career he has participated in various types of community service events, such as providing child fingerprint ID kits for parents to have the necessary information in the event of a missing child. But, serving the public means more than just doing the job he is paid to do. Robert regularly volunteers to serve meals to the neediest during Thanksgiving by delivering turkeys, and Christmas Day by bringing presents to children.
